Urine. Gross I know….But is it really? There are so many interesting facts about urine that people just don’t really think about. Everyone considers urine a waste, dirty, and disgusting when really it’s none of those things. Urine has been used for thousands of years for all sorts of purposes, and is even being used still today.
The use of urine as a disinfectant has been known since Ancient Roman times. The Roman’s knew about the wonders of ammonia through using urine as toothpaste and mouthwash. They were especially fond of Portuguese urine because they thought it was stronger. I know it sounds sick but in reality it was practiced all over until around the 18th century. Ammonia is still used in most toothpastes today, it’s man made but not internally.
The biggest misconception of urine is that it is waste. Most people consider urine like feces. Both urine and feces get filtered through the kidneys. Feces is a solid waste, meaning it’s garbage the body doesn’t need. Urine is a liquid that contains excess water, salt, and other matter none of which are waste. The reason we urinate is because it is excess nutrients and fluid that your body doesn’t need. Here is a list of some but definitely not all of the matter urine contains:
- Ascorbic Acid– Is an organic compound that contain antioxidants and Vitamin C.
- Amino Acid– Are needed for our metabolism and it helps build protein.
- Folic Acid– Is needed to grow, protect, and maintain DNA; it’s especially important in newborns and pregnant women.
- Riboflavin– Gives us energy and maintains metabolisms of our fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.
- Calcium– Helps keeps our bones healthy and strong.
- Dopamine– Is a hormone connected naturally to our Central Nervous System; this is excreted into the body when a woman is breastfeeding.
- Iron– Builds blood cells.
- Potassium
- Zinc
- Nitrogen
- Glucose
There are a lot of other elements in urine, too many for me to name or understand.
Using urine as a homeopathic remedy has dated back thousands of years. There are many uses for it such as: rehydrating your body (when there is nothing else), disinfecting cuts, neutralizing jellyfish stings, curing acne, and curing athletes foot. Today there are even doctors who are dedicated to the homeopathic remedy of “the body is it’s own medication”. Though this is mainly practiced in Europe it is starting to show signs of spreading across the ocean to us. There have been many valid points showing how urine can improve health and cure diseases. It is believed by some scientists that when we become sick our PH balance falls off kilter, but if we reinstitute our own urine we can repair our PH balance and stay healthy. It is also proven that people who have allergies emit that contaminant in their urine. So it is believed that if you have allergies and reinstitute your own urine into your system it will encourage your body to create antibodies to the allergen. This would make allergy medicines unnecessary in the future due to your own body fixing itself by drinking your urine.
If you do decide to give this a try be sure to use your own sample not somebody else’s. Be sure to clean yourself up before you take the urine sample, just like you would at the doctors office. When you first start try just 1-5 drops daily in the morning, then 5-10 drops in the morning the second day. By the third day continue 5-10 drops morning and night. You can increase or decrease the amount of urine consumed depending on your response to the urine. Be sure not to dilute your urine sample, and make sure it’s fresh every time. They say if you have tried everything and nothing cures your ailments try drinking your own urine. It can’t do anything but help.
